A Guide to Powertrain and Bumper-to-Bumper Warranties

Protecting your vehicle should be the first priority when buying a new car. After the test drive, as you sit down with the sales manager, you want to make sure that you get coverage for anything that could go wrong with the vehicle. This is the essence of new car warranties, but each one can have different terms.

In some cases, you will get a powertrain warranty, which only covers issues related to the engine and transmission. These are manufacturer defects possibly or other issues that were no fault of your own. Powertrain warranties typically have longer range, such as a 60,000-mile coverage maximum.

Bumper-to-bumper warranties cover most of what's inside of your car and a few other things. It doesn't cover the bumpers, however. This is strictly industry language, and you should read through the warranty before signing anything. You can get an excellent warranty on a new vehicle at Champion Ford Edinboro.
